By the end of the year the airfield on Ko Phangan is expected to be operational. Then, visitors to the traditional Full Moon Party can reach the island by plane.

Kan Air has invested about one billion baht to build the small airport and will fly to Koh Phangan from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Chiang Mai, Krabi and Phuket with 70-seat ATR 72 turboprop machine.

Currently Kan Air connects Chiang Mai with Mae Hong Son, Pai, Chiang Rai, Nan, Khon Kaen and Phitsanulok. The airline plans four more flights from Chiang Mai to Ubon Ratchathani and Hua Hin and Bangkok to Surin and Mae Sot.
